Joint effort for future Uganda

What we do

What We Do:

Educational Support for Vulnerable Children: We provide educational materials, resources, and support to children facing critical vulnerabilities, ensuring they have access to quality education and a path to a better future.

Training and Skill Development: Our vocational programs equip children and youth with essential skills in areas such as apprenticeship, cottage industries, and bakery. By providing practical, marketable skills, we help young people build a strong foundation for their futures.

Health and HIV Support: JEFU offers HIV preventive messages to adolescents and youth, HIV treatment literacy for positive children, and adherence counseling for children, youth, and caregivers. We work closely with health facilities to ensure that children and caregivers are educated and supported in managing their health, including providing assistance to those who miss ART appointments.

Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation: We promote water hygiene and sanitation activities within communities, working to reduce waterborne diseases and improve overall community health.

Food and Emergency Support: We provide emergency food support to children who are not virally suppressed due to insufficient food. Proper nutrition is essential to maintaining good health, and we aim to bridge gaps in food security for vulnerable families.

Community Engagement: Our work extends to caregivers, farmers, and community resource persons, providing them with training to better support the health and education of vulnerable children. We also facilitate transport for children living in distant areas to ensure they can access ART services and other vital healthcare.

Follow-up and Client Support: We are committed to providing follow-up services for lost clients, ensuring that children and caregivers maintain their ART regimens and continue to receive the support they need.

Our Impact: We believe in the power of community, collaboration, and a holistic approach to development. Through our work, we are seeing children and youth become more empowered, healthier, and better equipped to face the challenges of life. By working hand-in-hand with local health services, caregivers, and the community, we aim to create sustainable change that lasts for generations to come.

Join Us: Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of Uganda’s most vulnerable children and youth. Whether you are an individual, organization, or partner, your support can help us reach more children, provide more services, and create a brighter future for the next generation.

Educational Support for Vulnerable Children We understand the importance of education in shaping a better future. JEFU provides educational support to critically vulnerable children by offering school supplies, learning materials, and financial assistance. Our goal is to ensure that no child is left behind due to lack of resources, providing them with opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.

Vocational Training and Skills Development Empowering youth with practical skills is at the heart of our mission. Through vocational training programs, we teach children and youth valuable skills in apprenticeship, cottage industries, and bakery. These programs help young people build sustainable livelihoods, increase employability, and become self-sufficient in their communities.

Health and HIV Support Our health services focus on HIV prevention and care, particularly for vulnerable children and youth. We provide:

HIV Preventive Messages: Raising awareness on HIV prevention for adolescents and youth.
HIV Treatment Literacy: Educating HIV-positive children and their caregivers about managing treatment and maintaining health.
Adherence Counseling: Offering personalized counseling to children, youth, and caregivers to ensure consistent adherence to ART and other treatment regimens.
Assisting with ART Appointments and Refills We understand that missing ART appointments can hinder the effectiveness of treatment. To ensure continuous health for children and youth, JEFU helps project beneficiaries who miss ART refill appointments by coordinating follow-ups and ensuring they receive timely medication.

Water Hygiene and Sanitation Access to clean water and sanitation is essential for health. JEFU promotes water hygiene and sanitation practices in local communities to prevent waterborne diseases and improve overall public health. Our efforts aim to raise awareness and ensure that households understand the importance of proper water management and sanitation.

Emergency Food Support Nutrition plays a critical role in maintaining health, particularly for children living with HIV. JEFU provides emergency food support to children who are unable to maintain viral suppression due to insufficient food. Proper nutrition is essential for health, and our program ensures that no child faces treatment interruptions because of food insecurity.

Transport Support for ART Access We understand that distance can be a barrier to accessing life-saving ART services. To ensure that children living in remote areas are not left behind, JEFU provides transportation support to help children reach their respective health facilities and continue receiving ART services.

Training for Caregivers, Farmers, and Community Resource Persons JEFU works closely with caregivers, farmers, and community resource persons to build capacity in supporting vulnerable children and youth. By providing specialized training, we enable caregivers to better manage the health and wellbeing of the children in their care, while also enhancing the agricultural practices of farmers to ensure food security for the communities we serve.

Follow-up Services for Lost Clients Missing ART appointments can lead to severe health consequences. JEFU is committed to following up with clients who miss appointments, ensuring that they return to treatment and remain on track with their health goals. We work to bridge gaps and keep children, youth, and caregivers connected to vital healthcare services.
