Tailoring

The photo above shows an apprentice who completed tailoring and was given a tool kit in Nganiko village, Nyabbani sub -county, Kamwenge District. She was from a vulnerable Household where by the caregiver is HIV Positive and was unable to support her with school fees to access secondary education, after completing P.7 from Universal Primary Education stopped schooling. The caregiver approached JEFU office for support. The adolescent was assessed and qualified for support; she was attached to an artisan for 12 months training in tailoring. The institution rewarded her with a tool kit to help her earn a living and support their siblings and the entire family to achieve economic stability. She is doing well because the caregiver secured a loan from Village Savings and Loans Association(VSLA)totalling to 250,000= rent for two months to open up her own work shop in Nganiko trading center, Nganiko parish in Nyabbani Sub –County and also bought clothes for 50,000= for the start. By the end of the first month in her business, she was able to earn 200,000= from customers that helped her to reinvest more in her business and as we talk right now she is progressing on well and supports the younger sister to meet the basic necessities of her life which has greatly improved the Economic status of the Household.
